Cardigan Castle

With a team of up to 14 strong over a period of nearly two years, Coe Stone undertook consolidation and repair work to both the historic castle walls and to many of the associated buildings. Much anticipated locally, the repair and reinstatement work to the curtain walls allowed the removal of the ugly steel stantions that had long blighted the town.

One of the standout achievements for us on this project was to successfully negotiate the reduction of heavy engineering in the stabilisation of the medieval tower. With the backing of both CADW and the architect we were able to argue for less intervention and therefore preserve more of the historic fabric and character of this structure.
